A couple of familiar faces in Los Alamos have assumed interim leadership of Los Alamos Commerce & Development Corporation (LACDC).
Los Alamos MainStreet Director Lauren McDaniel has taken on the role of Interim Executive Director for LACDC, and Los Alamos Chamber Director Ryn Herrmann has assumed the role of Assistant Interim Executive Director.
The two will temporarily replace former director Patrick Sullivan, who left to pursue another local opportunity.
McDaniel joined LACDC as director of projectY cowork Los Alamos when it opened in 2016, and most recently serves as director of Los Alamos MainStreet — a role she will continue to resume during the interim period.
Herrmann, who has been with LACDC for more than eight years, currently also serves as the Chamber Director; prior to that, she held various roles within the organization.
The Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce and MainStreet are both programs of the LACDC, a private, not-for-profit economic and community development organization, which has served the Los Alamos area since 1983. LACDC also serves as the umbrella organization for the Discover Los Alamos (the visitor centers in Los Alamos and White Rock), Los Alamos Small Business Center, projectY cowork Los Alamos, Los Alamos Creative District and the Los Alamos Research Park.
The LACDC’s mission is to build a vibrant community through a thriving economy by leveraging public and private sector investment to achieve sustainable economic development. LACDC works to drive economic progress by providing services to businesses using its broad portfolio of programs and initiatives.
Some of LACDC’s current and upcoming projects and programs include running community events such as Trick-or-Treat MainStreet and Halloweekend, Small Business Saturday, WinterFest and the Holiday Lights Parade, managing a new Los Alamos Retail Accelerator program to encourage and support new entrepreneurs, pursuing next steps with retail and development incentives surrounding the White Rock Metropolitan Development Area (MRA) Plan, supporting local small businesses on a day-to-day basis and more.
