Los Alamos Choral Society Holds Brahms Requiem Rehearsals Sept. 8

LACS News:
The Los Alamos Choral Society (LACS) is beginning preparations for its winter concert, which will be presented in collaboration with the Los Alamos Symphony Orchestra.
Directed by Mary Badarak, LACS will be presenting Robert Shaw’s English translation of Brahms Requiem at 4 p.m., Jan. 23, 2016 at Crossroads Bible Church.
2015 is a significant year for the Brahms German Requiem, as it is the 150th anniversary of its composition; 2016 is also the centennial year of the noted conductor Robert Shaw who, in 1997, prepared the extraordinary annotated English translation of the Brahms Requiem using texts taken from the King James Bible.
These two noteworthy anniversaries make the selection of Brahms Requiem for the January 2016 concert particularly appropriate.
LACS will kick off preparations with its first rehearsal at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 8.
Rehearsals are usually 7-9 p.m. every Tuesday in Graves Hall in the United Church, 2525 Canyon Road.
But, for the first rehearsal we ask that singers arrive at 6:30 p.m. to sign up.
Suggested dues for the fall season are $25 which may be paid in cash or a check written to Los Alamos Choral Society. STUDENTS ARE FREE.
All interested singers are invited and encouraged to attend!
