Promotional Opportunities

Oppenheimer/ScienceFest Business Specials

As we do for ScienceFest every year, we would like to promote your unique experiences, products, programming, or attractions.

This year we will promote anything with an “Oppenheimer” twist! This can be as simple as a menu item, t-shirt design, or a one-time Oppie-themed Trivia Night, to an on-going tour or art program. But instead of just doing this for ScienceFest, we will promote these specials for a longer period of time.

The plan is to announce these specials on Oppenheimer’s birthday April 22 and then continue to build the offerings as this “Year of Oppenheimer” moves along. So, please send us your “Oppenheimer” offerings, with a photo if possible, to Sam at sam@losalamos.org. Contact us if you have questions!

Advertise at SALA Event Center

SALA Event Center advertising is a great way to reach viewers in a captive setting. SALA receives hundreds of visits per month and your message can be featured in lobby areas and on-screen in pre-show promotions.

Deliver your message to receptive audiences waiting to see a movie, show, or participate in an event. Most people arrive early to buy a ticket, purchase concessions, and find a seat and get comfortable, and that’s when they view the ads. Ad options include common :15 and :30 second videos. Advertisers may alternatively run a static image with music or voiceover for the entire spot.

Video Ad Specifications:

  • Dimensions: 1920px W x 1080pxH (all text/logos should be contained within 80% of total video or 1536 x 864 pixels)
  • Format: MP4 or JPEG2000
  • Length: :15 or :30 seconds
  •  Audio: All on-screen ads must contain audio (voiceover, licensed music, etc.)
  • Deadline: Thursday prior to scheduled ad run
  • Recommended Videographers:
    ○ PAC-8, Jean Gindreau, 662.7228, pac8@losalamos.com
    ○ Main Gate Media, Brian Clayton, 660.8672, brian@maingatenm.com
    ○ Anthonyography, Tony Mitchell, (385).444.6847, Anthonyography.comtonymitchell331@msn.com
    ○ If you choose to use a different videographer or self-produce, please consult with us well in advance to preclude issues

Ad Rates (30 second ads):

  • Monthly Rates – 5 percent discount for six month commitment; 10 percent discount for 12 month
commitment: 15 second ads will be 60 percent of the standard rate

  • Screen advertising in lobby areas – $TBD per month
  • Social media streams – included in all packages
  • Combination offer (on-screen and, lobby areas) – $TBD per month

Special Start-up Promotion: SALA Event Center is waiving advertising fees during our start-up period until April 15, 2023. Schedule an ad and get us the video and we will play it for free during the promotional period.

Cone Zone Newsletter starts March 10 – Subscribe for weekly email alerts

As the weather warms up, road construction projects will soon begin throughout the County. To keep residents informed about the latest updates and assist with planning for daily activities, the County is restarting the Friday email newsletter called The Cone Zone – brief updates on construction activities planned for the coming week. The first newsletter for the 2023 construction season will be sent Friday, March 10.

To sign up for the newsletter, visit the “Subscribe to Newsletter” page and select The Cone Zone. Subscribers will receive an “opt in” e-mail notice and must validate that they wish to receive the newsletter. Individuals who have subscribed in the past do not need to sign up again.

Subscribers can expect to receive information regarding Public Works, Roads & Streets, and Utilities projects, as well as other non-county projects or events that may impact traffic or roadways.
The Cone Zone will be delivered Fridays through the duration of the construction season until work ends – typically in November. The newsletter can also be viewed on the County’s website on the Road Conditions page.

For questions regarding the Cone Zone, email Leslie Bucklin at le.bucklin@lacnm.us or call (505).663.1726.

Community Survey on Short-term Rentals Program for Los Alamos County Open Through March 26

Los Alamos County residents are encouraged to participate in a survey to assess the community’s experience with and perceptions of short-term rentals (STRs), and to gauge the degree of STR regulation that the community will support.

The online version of the survey is available here until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, March 26. To learn more about STRs in the County, go to https://www.livehostvisitlac.org/.

Capital Improvement Projects Poll open until March 9

Los Alamos County Manager Steven Lynne hosted two town halls this week to update residents on the County’s existing capital improvement projects (CIP) and to request feedback on the level of importance for 10 potential projects that would add new assets to the County’s portfolio, such as community broadband, or a tween center.

Those in attendance were invited to take a quick poll at https://lacnm.com/CIP-Poll to prioritize the importance of the 10 projects. Lynne noted that the poll will remain open until 11:59 p.m. March 9 for others in the community to weigh in. These 10 projects do not include maintenance of existing facilities, as County policy and the Council’s 2023 Strategic Leadership Plan already dictate that maintenance projects take higher priority over adding new assets.

This poll, combined with the results from the recent 2022 National Community SurveyTM and the 2022 Integrated Master Plan Survey, will be used by county staff to plan and prepare the fiscal year 2024 budget and forecast capital improvement projects over the next five to seven years.

To view the presentation materials and the recorded meetings visit https://lacnm.com/CIPRecording.

PEEC’s annual Earth Day Festival
10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, April 22 at Los Alamos Nature Center (2600 Canyon Road)

Are you looking to promote your organization, sell local wares, or engage members of the community at a fun, outdoor setting this spring? Join us for the Pajarito Environmental Education Center’s (PEEC’s) annual Earth Day Festival Saturday, April 22 at the Los Alamos Nature Center. We can’t put this event on without great booths, activities, and vendors, so we really hope you’ll join us.

The festival takes place in our parking lot here at the nature center, so there is no shelter for booths and very few areas have accessible power. Please read the booth information page carefully.

If you would like a booth space, you can register using this link. Booths are available for a $40 fee. However, we do waive the fee for fellow STEAM organizations or if someone can’t pay for any reason. We would much rather have everyone participate!

The deadline to reserve a booth is Friday, April 7. If you would like more information about the event, click here or feel free to call or email me. Also, feel free to pass this along to anyone you know who might want a booth. Thank you!
