Los Alamos Brand Strapline Ranking Closes Friday

Residents, employers, employees and visitors have until the end of this week to submit their ranking of the brand straplines being considered for the Los Alamos community.

As prescribed in the County’s contract amendment AGR15-4150-A1 for Strapline Development and Selection Services approved by Council earlier this year, Atlas Advertising is developing two straplines with logo concepts plus one logo concept with no strapline to present to Council at the November 17 regular meeting.

In preparation for the November 17th Council meeting, Atlas will select two brand strapline options from the five listed on the attached Brand Strapline Ranking Form based on the ability to communicate Los Alamos’ assets of value to its target audiences—prospective employers, employees, residents and visitors throughout the state and the surrounding region, as well as the results of the public vetting process conducted via Open Forum and other mechanisms July 31 through Aug. 28.

Council’s selection of the Los Alamos brand strapline and logo concept will provide the creative required for Atlas to proceed with phases one and two of the original contract: (1) design of three strapline and/or logo options; and (2) development of three complementary versions of an implementation plan. These deliverables are anticipated to be ready for Council and public review and selection in spring 2016, at which time Council will make the decision to proceed to phase three:  brand execution.

The public may participate in the brand strapline ranking process via the County’s on-line Open Forum process available on the County website losalamosnm.us Home page and clicking on the “Open Forum” tab under “Helpful Links,” as well as via e-mail (brandinglosalamos@lacnm.us), and in person by completing and submitting a paper copy of the survey (attached)—available in the vestibule entrance of the County Municipal Building at 1000 Central Avenue.

The public is encouraged to familiarize themselves with branding (in general) and Los Alamos County’s branding process to date through the following avenues:

  • Branding Initiative web page on the Los Alamos County website, under Projects, then Council Projects at http://www.losalamosnm.us/projects/council/Pages/BrandingInitiative.aspx
