Los Alamos Big Band News:

The Los Alamos Big Band is presenting a Christmas Dance 7:30-10:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Hall, 3700 Canyon Road in Los Alamos.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend; even if you are not a dancer, please come to listen and enjoy the authentic Big Band sound. The proceeds will benefit the IHM Youth Program. Admission is $15/person, $10/student, and $5 each for children under 12 years. Admission is payable at the door.

The Los Alamos Big Band is a 16-instrument 1940s Glenn Miller-style swing band that plays for public events, weddings, conventions, fund-raisers and more.

The band has been playing at dances throughout Northern New Mexico since 1984 under the direction of Jan McDonald, who was for many years the band director at Los Alamos High School.  The band will play new renditions of big band and jazz standards as well as holiday tunes. The band will feature well-known local vocalists Rene LeClaire, Joy Reynolds and Grace Willerton.
