Los Alamos Badminton Players Bring Home 2017 NM Games Gold

Los Alamos Badminton players dominated the field in the 2017 New Mexico Games Badminton tournament, bringing home gold and silver medals in men’s singles and gold and bronze in men’s doubles competition.
 
In the men’s singles tournament, Blake Hovde was victorious over fellow Los Alamos teammate Po-E (Paul) Li in a dramatic final, taking the championship match 17-21, 29-27, 21-14.
 
In men’s doubles Paul Li and Blake Hovde also took home the championship over a strong doubles pair from Albuquerque 21-17, 21-13. Ross Beattie and Frank Pan, also representing Los Alamos, took 3rd in the doubles tournament.
 
For interested players, open gym badminton takes place from 7:45 to 9:45 p.m., every Tuesday and Thursday at Pueblo Complex. All levels of experience are welcome.
