CLEVELAND – Los Alamos resident Kelly Benner is sharing her experiences as an alternate delegate from New Mexico to the 2016 Republican National Convention, which runs through Thursday in Cleveland, Ohio.
Benner is sending photos from the event each day to the Los Alamos Daily Post to share with the community. Another Los Alamos resident Lisa Shin is a New Mexico delegate scheduled to deliver a speech Thursday evening at the Convention.
The first day of the Convention was eventful and the New Mexico Delegation was energized and excited throughout the day, said the New Mexico Republican Party in a news release.
“New Mexico’s Delegates are enjoying themselves and were invigorated by their experience on the first day of the Convention,” RPNM Chair Debbie Maestas said. “The many engaging speakers last night highlighted the importance of this election and reinforced Donald Trump’s message of public safety and stronger national security.”
Delegates spent Monday soaking in the thrill of the occasion, listening to a wide variety of speakers, talking to the media and sharing their experiences at the Convention. Whether this was the first convention a delegate had attended or the fifth, everyone was enthusiastic about the opportunity and eager to participate in the Convention process.
