Local Organizations Host Vehicle Parade To Honor Veterans

Los Alamos Elks, VFW and American Legion News:

The Los Alamos Elks Lodge 2083, VFW Post 8874 and American Legion Post 90 cordially invite the community to a vehicle parade at 11:11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 to honor the Veterans of the United States of America.

Due to the COVID pandemic, the organizations are unable to hold a public ceremony to celebrate this day and thought a parade would be an appropriate alternative.

The Los Alamos Police Department will lead the parade. Anyone interested in participating should arrive at the Los Alamos Elks Lodge parking lot between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. at 1601 Trinity Dr. Please remain in your vehicle until the parade starts to meet requirements of the State of New Mexico COVID safe practice.

The parade will proceed through town and pass by Ashley Pond where the Los Alamos High School Junior ROTC will have a color guard to honor Veterans. The route is east on Trinity Drive from the Elks to Knect Street turning left then west onto Central Avenue to Diamond Drive, returning south to Trinity and back passed the pond concluding in the Elks parking lot.

Anyone unable to attend is asked to take a moment at 11:11 a.m. to remember Veterans for their service and dedication to this country.
