Local Businesswomen Join Nicholas Seet for Roundtable Talk

Have you ever wondered what it really takes to start a successful business?

Six local female business owners will share their stories, advice and secrets 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Feb. 21 at a roundtable discussion at Family Strengths Network. Babysitting will be provided.

Nicholas Seet, who will teach Introduction to Entrepreneurship at UNM-LA during the spring semester, will moderate the talk.

The panel of business owners includes Ruby Alexander, owner of Ruby K’s Bagel Café; Lorraine Hartway, a CPA owner of a growing practice; Michelle Harkey, owner of Mullein Leaf Massage; Christa Tyson, owner of Sphere Mama, Venessa De Los Santos, co-owner of the Coffee Booth and successful distributor of It Works Global™ products and Trish Ebbert, owner of Los Alamos Art Therapy and Counseling Center, LLC.

“Entrepreneurship is something that all mothers should be considering in their spare time,” Seet said.

Seet is a stay-at-home dad who is looking forward to discussing the challenges and opportunities of starting a business while babies are running around the premises.

Parents are invited to find out how to turn an idea, hobby or interest into a profitable business.

If participants want to learn more about growing a new business, you still have time to join the UNM-LA class Introduction to Entrepreneurship (BSTC 193 Intro to Entre.) Introduction to Entrepreneurship is open to everyone. It begins Feb. 22 and ends May 3. Class time is noon to 4 p.m. Visit www.la.unm.edu for registration information.

“Everybody has an idea,” Seet said. “Introduction to Entrepreneurship will be a roadmap to making it happen. I will give you the steps you need to take. There is nothing mysterious about it. You just have to follow your bliss and do it.”
