Los Alamos retail, commercial and attraction businesses have the opportunity for a placement on 5,000 promotional bookmarks that will be distributed to visitors through welcome bags and at community and statewide events.
The Los Alamos Lodgers’ Tax Advisory Board is offering this opportunity in coordination with Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corporation (LACDC) and the tourism marketing services contractor, Griffin and Associates, who will design and print the bookmarks.
The bookmark design features an eye-catching photo of a Los Alamos vista or attraction with the visitor center/website information on the front, and three coupons from local businesses on the back. The first bookmark was produced last year and featured discount coupons from three local businesses.
Time Out Pizzeria offered 20 percent off an entire order. Don Quixote Distillery & Winery offered free wine and spirits tasting, and Fusion Multisport offered 10 percent off of any regular price item or service. All coupons provided contact information, hours of operation and products/services description.
This year, the members of the Lodgers’ Tax Advisory Board approved a recommendation to expand this promotion opportunity to more local businesses by printing three versions of the bookmark—more than 1,500 of each—using the new visitor guide photo/copy on the front and three coupons on the back.
Each version will feature discounts (no expiration) from three different businesses: one restaurant, one retailer and one attraction, for a total of nine different businesses.
Bookmark participants are asked to collect and date the bookmarks when the discounts are redeemed to track the success of the promotion, and to provide the data to LTAB members and contractors to include in monthly and annual data reports.
The first nine businesses that provide timeless discounts and fit the available business-type categories (restaurant, retail and attraction) will be featured in one of the three versions of the bookmark. The first print run will be produced in time for the 2015 International Balloon Fiesta.
Depending upon the distribution and redemption rate of this batch of 5,000, LTAB will consider increasing frequency and expanding the number and variety of businesses in the promotion.
Interested retail, restaurant and tourism attraction businesses are encouraged to submit their business contact information and discount via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
