Bathtub Row’s New Head Brewer: Nic Boyden

TUB News:

Hello, my name is Nic Boyden and I am excited to be your new brewer!

I have been brewing for 10 years now, nearly six professionally. I started out at the fast-paced, large-scale craft brewing operation at Avery Brewing Co. in Boulder, Colo. There I got to work in every aspect of production in a very specialized environment, be it bottling, canning, kegging, celllaring, brewing, or barrel herding. I then moved on to Elevation Beer Co. in Poncha Springs, Colo.

At that much smaller but rapidly growing brewery I was able to translate my skills to optimize the limited

Pastor Raul Granillo: Questioning God

By Pastor RAUL GRANILLO
Los Alamos

Questioning God.

I doubt anyone has not had at least one moment when they have questioned God. After all, we are human, and this world is full of things and pains that we just don’t understand. It has been that way since the fall. That is probably why the Bible is full of instances when man questions God, or struggles with what God is doing (Ps. 10,44,74,77; Hab. 1:2; Jdg. 6:36-40). It should be emphasized that there is nothing Biblically wrong with asking hard questions and putting them to the test. In fact, Paul writes,

“Test everything. Hold on to the good” (1 Thess. Read More

How The Hen House Turns: Living Peacefully With Others

By Carolyn A. (Cary) Neeper, Ph. D
Longtime Los Alamos Resident
Now residing in California

As a metaphor for our relationship with animals, the Hen House is Turning, in significant in several ways. We housed and loved many animals in our 46 years in Los Alamos. They added more than one dimension to our lives.

We humans have been both friends and users of our fellow creatures over many thousands of years. Domestication has been a mixed blessing for some, like silk worms, and a remarkable partnership for others—the dog and its genetic modification from wolves, through kindness and eye-contact, being Read More

Recently, I decided to tackle some home projects that I have meaning to do for a while. I have to say the projects that make the biggest transformation have to do with paint.

The power of paint is undeniable. For about $30 a gallon, paint can do wonders.

Here are some before and after photos of my very own projects, at my house, that say just that.

The right color adds depth and texture to a room. Photo by Suzette Fox

Pastor Raul Granillo: God Of The Storm

By Pastor RAUL GRANILLO
Los Alamos

God of the Storm.

No sooner had my mother thought that she could pay all of the bills for the month when I came in to tell her that I had accidently broke the neighbors window with my baseball.

I couldn’t understand why her eyes teared up as she called my dad to ask for an advance on the child support. I was 11 years old, and I already realized that life was about surviving one storm only to be beaten by another. It doesn’t take long to learn this lesson.

As an adult, I struggled with my own storms in life. As everything fell apart around me, I often wondered where God was. If He
