Today, as I stand looking out my office window, I ponder all of the things I am thankful for as a part of United Way of Northern New Mexico.
Today and every day I am thankful to be a part of the Northern New Mexico Community. I’m thankful to be working in a job where there are people who truly care. I am constantly surrounded by people who work with their hearts and their hands. I’m thankful for those who are generous enough to invest in in us, from the $6 check to the checks in the thousands. I’m thankful to our Board of Directors who support the United Way and the staff. Speaking of staff, I am thankful for Jeremy Varela and Marie Marroquin. Without them, this office wouldn’t exist as we’ve come to know it. I’m thankful for volunteers, who could choose many things to do with their free time, but choose us.
I’m thankful for local businesses who see the value in this organization and invest in us, as a staff, trusting that we are doing all we can to help those who need it most. I’m thankful for the generosity of Small Business Saturday, Golf Tournaments, and office auctions that folks put on, in addition to their day job, to support those around them.
I’m thankful for our 30+ Funded Partners who continue to achieve large strides on small budgets for the simple sake of helping others. I’m thankful to the 100+ Women Who Care who show up four times a year, selflessly writing checks in support of local nonprofits. And for a group of local therapist, who meet monthly to discuss opportunities and challenges.
On a personal level, I’m thankful for my family. My husband who is the strongest man I know. My daughter, who is the light of my life and continues to shine brightly. And of course for my Dallas Cowboys, who, for the first time in a long time are 9-1.
What an amazing place we live in!
