Letter to the Editor: Take Time To Vote

By KAREN DOEBLING

I am writing to encourage everyone to get out and vote in the School Board election next Tuesday, Feb. 3.

According to the County Clerk’s announcement, you can vote 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the Municipal Building and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday (Election Day) at the Municipal Building and White Rock Fire Station #3 Vote Centers.

All three Los Alamos townsite districts, Districts 3, 4 and 5, are up for election and for the first time in many years there are contested races, so you have choices.

As a resident of District 5, I support Jenny McCumber. Jenny is practical and caring. She wants what is best for our students, teachers and community. She has already served our district well on the District Parent Council, and is well informed on LAPS issues. She currently has children at Mountain Elementary, LAMS and LAHS, so she understands the unique assets and challenges at each level.

I worked with Jenny in the Mountain Elementary PTA where she served as vice president, president and treasurer, wrote many grant requests, and worked hard to continue the hot lunch program. I have seen her serve with integrity and I trust her to make sound decisions of policy and budget for our schools.
