Letter To The Editor: Stover Supports Our Youth

By DEB And JOHN ARCHULETA
Los Alamos

Sharon Stover has been our friend for decades. Together, we have attended countless Little League games and Gordon’s concerts. We’ve watched each other’s kids grow up and begin families of their own.

Throughout our time together, Sharon has been fiercely devoted to the youth in our community. I witnessed the impact she has had on the development of our community’s kids when our son went through the Los Alamos Youth Leadership (LAYL) program.

Sharon helped start LAYL about 10 years ago. In LAYL, kids learn the 8 Keys of Excellence. These Keys include values like integrity, commitment, honesty, responsibility and resiliency — values that Sharon consistently demonstrates herself.

Our son and many other teens in Los Alamos benefitted from learning these Keys and applying them in their daily lives. This program gave them the skills and confidence to make positive changes in our community. Teens from the LAYL program helped advocate for the Teen Center and the skateboard park. They also breathed new life into traditions like the annual Homecoming Bonfire.

LAYL is just one example of Sharon’s efforts to give our kids opportunities to grow and develop. As our District 43 representative, Sharon will be a powerful voice in support of youth development opportunities across New Mexico. Please vote for Sharon Stover and send her to the Legislature!
