Letter To The Editor: Response To Visel Letter

By BRENDA KELLEY

Mr. Visel and all citizens armed or not:

Please stop pretending that gun control is not needed. The death toll clearly indicates that management is necessary and other country’s successes provide compelling evidence of management efforts that are effective.

Stop using the inanimate object argument. Of course they don’t shoot humans of their own volition but until guns can prevent themselves from being used inappropriately, controlling access is necessary.

I suggest that law-abiding gun owners get on board with some legitimate, effective and authentically-stringent control measures similar to how legitimate hunters have helped address poaching. The alternative is to continue to allow criminals, school shooters and negligent weapon-handlers to direct the path forward.
