I am writing in support of Dist. 43 Rep. Stephanie Garcia Richard, a proven leader with integrity, courage, conviction and strength of character. As a lifelong educator, her qualifications to determine what is needed for the education and well-being of our children is beyond compare.
While I respect her opponent’s contribution to our community, Sharon Stover appears to be an adamant supporter of the current Republican administration and the Public Education Department’s flawed testing policy, punitive and error-riddled teacher evaluation system, and poor budget priorities, which I do not support. Stephanie has worked tirelessly as a legislator on behalf of education, youth, families and the entire community. She has a proven track record of working effectively in a bipartisan manner while showing the courage and strength of conviction to challenge the current administration on critical issues in order to protect and serve her constituents.
As a parent of three daughters who attended Los Alamos Public Schools for 12 years, I believe that it is vital to the future of our State that we have a representative who understands education and appreciates that teaching is one of the most important jobs there is. Stephanie has fought to ensure that those in our classrooms are fully trained, qualified and effective. She supports legislation to protect our District from punitive, onerous requirements and a highly flawed teacher evaluation process.
She is a role model for young people throughout the community as a graduate of Barnard College/Columbia University, who returned to her New Mexico roots to serve our community as a teacher and leader. Please join me in voting to re-elect Stephanie Garcia Richard as our New Mexico House Representative.
