Letter To The Editor: Please Vote For Judge Alan Kirk!

By MORRIS PONGRATZ
Los Alamos County Council

I urge the voters of Los Alamos County to re-elect Judge Alan Kirk. Alan is seeking his sixth four-year term as Municipal Judge. Alan has lived in Los Alamos for 60 years and served as Los Alamos Police Chief before becoming a judge. Many times, the voters of Los Alamos have endorsed Alan for his outstanding service to our community.

Others have also recognized Alan’s judgement and vision. The New Mexico Supreme Court appointed him to the State Judicial Information Oversight Board and to the Chief Judges Council, which has representation from all levels of court in the state.

The governor appointed him to the Juvenile Justice Advisory Council for the Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD).

His experience in Los Alamos has shown him that the best way to combat crime is to prevent it. That is why, when I was on the school board, I worked with Alan to establish the Los Alamos Juvenile Justice Advisory Board. Alan was also a strong force in establishing our Teen Center.

During Judge Kirk’s 20-year tenure as judge he worked to establish Teen Court, the local probation program, the community service program and the pretrial service program that are now in place in Los Alamos.

Please vote for Judge Alan Kirk!
