Letter To The Editor: Pajarito Trail Fest Says Thanks

PAJARITO TRAIL FEST

The 10th annual Pajarito Trail Fest turned out to be another great community event.

About 90 runners gathered on a beautiful October morning and runners completed the 10K or 15-mile course on the trails of Pajarito Mountain and surrounding area. The event has always had a fundraising element with proceeds going to local non-profit organizations.

This year, a total of $5,500 was donated, with emphasis on supporting youth outdoor activity programs. YESC – YMCA Earth Service Corps, a summer outdoor service organization for middle school aged kids, received $2,000. Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) received $1,500 to go toward youth outdoor programs. $1,500 went to the 5th grade learn-to-ski / board program, which will cover transportation and provide scholarships. $500 went to High Flyers Gymnastics, a good example of an organization that promotes positive competitive and recreational opportunities for our youth, from gymnastics to parkour.

The next Pajarito Trail Fest is Oct. 14, 2017.
