By RAMEY SALLAZDuring this time of giving thanks, the Mountain Elementary School PTA would like to thank the faculty, staff, families, community businesses and sponsors who supported our fall fundraising drive and school events.
We kicked things off with our Family Breakfast followed closely by the school Book Fair, Halloween Carnival, and FUNd Run. It was a hectic time and we wouldn’t have made it without all your energy and support.
This year we expanded our Halloween Carnival thanks to Jane Lin and the Pettersen family. There were more games for everyone to enjoy and two cakewalks! Our silent auction was successful due to the generous donations from our wonderful local business owners. A big thank you to all the parents, teachers, staff, and young people in our community who volunteered for setting up, staffing and cleaning up for the carnival.
At FUNd Run we were so thankful for our amazing community sponsors Zia Realty Group, Los Alamos National Bank, Pet Pangaea, State Farm Abe Dispennette Agency, Vest Orthodontics, Los Alamos Schools Credit Union, and Dr. Amrani at Los Alamos Surgical Associates. Kiwanis Club generously supported the PTA in supplying every student with a pedometer; we recorded 2,129,646 steps, walking 852 miles through the efforts of the 431 kids who participated. Thank you to all the parents, faculty and staff who walked with our students but whose steps we did not count!
