Letter To The Editor: LAPS Is Requesting Assistance

Dr. KURT STEINHAUS
LAPS Superintendent

Come join the LAPS Team and make a difference for our children!

This letter is to request your assistance in finding applicants for vacant LAPS positions. Please help spread the word. The areas of greatest need are special education, early childhood, custodians, instructional assistants, bus drivers, and teachers at Los Alamos Middle School and Los Alamos High School.

A full list of vacancies can be found here: http://laschools.net/careers/

With your help, I am confident we will find the people needed to build upon our tradition of excellence. LAPS is rated the #1 school district in the state and is considered an exceptional workplace by its employees. Mid School teacher Rita Sanchez says: “I’ve been offered other jobs but will not teach anywhere else. I can retire at any time but choose not to. I love my kids.” Based upon four years of Climate Survey data, “teachers and staff ‘go the extra mile’ for students” and are “proud to be part of LAPS.” Chamisa Elementary School teacher Megan Lee says: “I am grateful to work for LAPS.”

LAPS is proud to offer great benefits; here are just a few examples: 14 personal days per year, 8 non-instructional days for professional development and room setup, competitive pay, as well as medical, dental, life insurance, and a retirement package from the NM Educational Retirement Board.

Even though it is only July 1, I am looking forward to seeing students, teachers, and staff return for a new school year. There is always lots of positive energy and excitement that comes at the beginning of school.

If you or someone you know is interested in working for LAPS, please apply online at laschools.net/careers. Ashley Salazar can assist at 505.663.2206 or as.salazar@laschools.net
