Letter To The Editor: In Defense Of Hillary

Dr. T. DOUGLAS REILLY

Hillary’s negative approval ratings are caused by the misinformation supplied incessantly by the GOP, the media. They are not caused by her actions.

My defense of Hillary Clinton:

  • Hillary’s early life.
  • Born Hillary Diane Rodham Oct. 26, 1947 in Chicago, the oldest of three children.
  • Her parents were the owner of a drapery-fabric business and a homemaker, a middle-class family with conservative values.
  • She described herself as a Tom-boy, fond of bike riding, softball, skating, and the Cubs.
  • In high school she served on the student council and became interested in Dr. Martin Luther King and the civil rights movement.
  • She went to Wellesley College, an all-girls-college in Massachusetts, one of the seven sisters.
  • As class president in 1969 she gave the first commencement speech at Wellesley.
  • She was a summer intern for the House Republican Conference and attended the 1968 Republican Convention that nominated Richard M. Nixon. After the convention she drove to NH to work on Gene McCarthy’s campaign.

When Bill became President, the GOP realized her strength, imagined she’d eventually run for POTUS, and started a campaign of dirty politics and yellow journalism to disparage her

Here’s a joke about Bill and Hillary stopping at a service station down south. Bill asks her, “Where would you be if you’d married the fellow pumping gas?” she replies, “If I’d married him, he’d be President!”

As FLOTUS she attempted to create a single-payer national health care system.

She became US senator for New York, ran in 2008 for POTUS, and then became Obama’s first Sec’y of State.

Benghazi. This is a fiction, i.e. her culpability, dreamed up in desperation by the GOP and broadcast by the media for entertainment. I remember a great political cartoon with a nearly dead horse on the ground and an elephant-like person saying to the republican with the club, “hey, you missed a spot here!”

Her private email server.

The information on Sec’y Clinton’s emails is called National Security Information (NSI). It is not BORN CLASSIFIED. The only question that matters is: WERE ANY EMAILS MARKED CLASSIFIED WHEN SHE SAW THEM?

As Sec’y Clinton’s emails had no such designation, she neither read nor mishandled classified information. Even if an organization, e.g. CIA, FBI, determines later the message or a part should be classified, IT WAS UNCLASSIFIED WHEN HILLARY READ IT.

That’s law; however, the public doesn’t know it, so the GOP and media can denounce her ad-nausium.

Hillary’s negative approval ratings are caused by the misinformation supplied incessantly by the GOP, the media. They are not caused by her actions.
