Los Alamos
We would like to highly recommend Randall Ryti for another term on the County Council.
Among his many interests and sober evaluation of proposed County actions is his abiding interest in the County’s Nature Center. Randy was involved early in the conception of the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC), being an early president and from his business experience setting up its financial procedures.
His early work involved making sure the Center was not involved in issues of concern but only in teaching young and old about the rich natural heritage around Los Alamos. Later he helped in fundraising done to pay for the exhibits in the new County-built Nature Center (PEEC had proposed that, if the County paid to build the building, PEEC would raise the funds necessary for construction of the exhibits).
Randy’s interest in the environment did not stop there. When the County established its LARES Task Force, which studied and recommended methods to reduce carbon emissions, Randy served as the Council Liaison giving good advice as to how to pose the problems so Council could address them.
Randy has of course contributed much more to the wellbeing and growth of our county, but perhaps his seminal good judgment in the area of the Nature Center, etc. is not known as well as it deserves to be.
