Letter to the Editor: Government Doesn’t Create Jobs, Businesses Do

It is not true that I want to remove all government regulations as Mr. Wiggins suggests (see April 16 letter here). I support common sense regulations that protect our citizens.

Government doesn’t create jobs. Businesses create jobs. We need solutions that will grow our private sector economy, not ones that will add to the size of government.

Businesses come in all shapes and sizes. When I talk about “business owners,” I’m talking about the woman who does your nails, the local organic farmer, artists and musicians, your landscaper and the restaurant owner trying to stay open longer. Business owners are people who decided to take a chance and follow their dream. We need to help them succeed.
