Letter To The Editor: Found Good Reason To Vote

By APRIL NOLEN

I have found a good reason to get out and vote on Nov. 8. Her name is Nora Espinoza. This political firecracker is currently a New Mexico state rep running for secretary of state. I had the privilege of hearing her speak recently at the Constitution Day Dinner hosted by the local GOP. Wow! The woman’s personal experience is impressive and her political rhetoric lively.

It is no wonder she recently made the national list of rising stars in the GOP (click here).

Rep. Espinoza has represented District 59 since 2007, chaired the NM House education committee for the past two years and currently serves as Vice Chair West for the National Conference of Hispanic Legislators.

Rep. Espinoza realizes that voting is a sacred trust. As she said, “In a representative democracy, elections are everything. If we get that wrong, then our whole governmental system becomes wrong.”

That’s why she’s running for Secretary of State.

So, at this stage in the election cycle when so many voters have grown weary of the political ads and some are even disgruntled with the entire electoral process, I urge my friends and neighbors to renew your commitment to vote and to consider supporting such fine candidates as Nora Espinoza and others further down the ballot.
