Letter to the Editor: Forty-One Aspen Students Write expressions Of Thanks To Los Alamos!

Dear Los Alamos,

This new building that Los Alamos has built is beautiful!

One thing that surprised me about the new building was the architecture. The architecture around the whole school is just amazing and beautiful. Another thing that surprised me was the media center. The media center has a fireplace and couches so you can read quietly.

One thing that was eye-catching in the building was the Aspen trees all over the school. The trees in the windows of the media center are incredible! Another thing that was eye-catching was the dining hall. It is very neat and beautiful.

Something that will take some time getting used to is the hallways that take you everywhere. I think the hallways are amazing; you don’t pay attention where you’re going because everything is amazing! Other things that will take some getting used to are the different types of stairs to go down because all lead to different parts of the building. I am most excited about the sinks in the hallway, because you can wash your hands before you eat.

This new school can help me as a student because it has newer technology for learning and it’s more safe with the protection we need such as the doorway where adults have to be buzzed in before going down the hall.

Thank you so much, Los Alamos!

Dear Los Alamos,

Our new building is wonderful!

One thing I really love is the library. It has a great area to read and now that we have a full sized library, we can also have all the books. It is nice to have a bigger selection and variety of books.

Another thing that I am enjoying very much are the classrooms. They are so much better than the old ones. They have big windows and let lots of natural light in, which makes it easier for me to learn. I love that maintenance people aren’t always having to come in and out to fix something. I remember a time when our heater went out and we froze, even when we were inside! Now we are nice and warm or cool, depending on what we like.

I also love that we have a dining hall instead of eating in the gym. It is so much better and more organized. The hand washing stations are great too!

Thanks again for giving us this privilege.

Dear Los Alamos,

Thank you for providing the money for the new school. There are many things I love about it.

First, I love the “Media Center” (library). My favorite part is the furniture. This furniture is cushioned, but not like a sink-hole of a bean bag. It has lots of room in many shapes and can comfortably seat a whole class. Some other great features of the library are the fireplace and huge space. The fireplace, although not massive, is a cozy addition to the feel of the room. The size of the library is great. Mr. Lloyd (our librarian) can fit all his books, but the space is still not at all cramped. I love the library for those reasons.

Next, I am excited for the potential of the building. Although the layout is going to take some getting used to, it has lots of great features. The playground, even cramped because of the portable classroom removal, is fun and will have great structures and equipment once at full size. The hallways and staircases are wide and the classrooms are a bit bigger, with a lot of storage space, better desks, and great technology. The staircases are laid out in a convenient way, and it is a relatively quick walk from one end to another. There are some kinks in the system, but this will be a great school for years to come.

Finally, I’m excited for the enhanced learning this school will provide. With all its new technology, bigger classes, better library and other Specials rooms, the school will provide great learning for years more. Thanks again.

Dear Los Alamos,

Thank you for voting the word that made our new school: “YES”. I hope you came Monday the 17th, and if you did you know why we are so grateful. This new school, which you allowed to come to reality really added a lot to our lives. I would like to put out a special thanks to the builders for making it fast, but really good, so that the 6th grade could spend half a glorious year in school paradise.

This new school adds space, it adds new rules, and it adds decoration to our school. Yes, thank you so much for saying “YES”. The student you added decoration to, Zach.

Dear Los Alamos,

Thank you so very much for the opportunity to have a brand-new school building!

I am most excited about our new media center. It’s nice to have new books, computers, and study rooms. This school can help us as students because it will teach us how to act in any school throughout our lives. It is going to take some getting used to to have high expectations in our behavior.

One thing that is really eye-catching is the colors they painted the walls because they are really bright colors.

I am grateful most of all for your help, support, and for our school.

Dear Los Alamos,

I am loving our new building for several reasons.

First, I thought the Media Center was so beautiful. Second, I was so surprised to see how many stairs there are, but I really like the new building even if there are a lot of stairs. And third of all, I am going to have to get used to knowing what stairs to come in and what stairs to use to leave the school.

Thank you so much for this beautiful new building.

Dear Los Alamos,

I love our new building for many reasons. First of all, all the eye-catching thing because of the windows and the fireplace. I was really surprised about the shower in the nurses office. I never thought of a shower in a school. I might have to get used to all the different ways to get in and out of the school.  All the ways to get in and out are very confusing. The most exciting thing for me is the playground. The playground is most exciting because it is so big, so it has room for everyone like social people, active people, and everyone in between.

The new Aspen can help me and others in many ways. The biggest way is it helps everyone better their learning style and expand them in many ways.

Thank you for bettering our school and helping us better ourselves.

Dear Los Alamos,

I love our new building for several reasons.

First of all the look is amazing.  It really gives the building a modern feel. Also the playground looks amazing, and an amazing coincidence, the blow dryers in the bathrooms are the same as ones I’ve used before that I encountered in this new building!

Dear Los Alamos,

I am enjoying our new school building for several reasons.

First of all, we have larger classrooms. The larger rooms hold more equipment for more in-class projects. Second, we have more books in the library. More books means more sources to study with. Last, this new building is safer than the other. The older building was falling apart, literally!

Thank you all for our beautiful new building!

Dear Los Alamos Community,

Why should we thank you? Because you, yes you, said yes to us. You gave us a brand new school.

So see what you gave us? The media center is amazing, with it’s modern design and more books to read. The school isn’t bland with tons of colors and especially details. here are small things like the floor colors and patterns, how the windows of the media center show aspen trees. It will take time to get used the layout of the building, not that it’s a problem. The Aspen playground is more like a playground, which I like.

So thank you Community of Los Alamos, thank you.

Dear Los Alamos,

There are a lot of things I want to thank Los Alamos about the new building, like how I’m on the second story. Also, what I think is really cool is the fireplace. There’s a gas fireplace in the library. It’s so nice to sit by the fire while you’re reading, plus none of the other schools has one. How the school will help me as a student is it will be less crowded, therefore, I can have space. I can’t thank you enough for voting yes.

Dear Los Alamos,

I am loving our new building for several reasons,

First of all, the overhead projectors really surprised me. That surprised me because they are high-tech. The things that are really eye-catching are the light sails. These are eye-catching because they are so big. The thing that might take some getting used to are the passes. These might take some time getting used to because I’ve never had passes before. The part that I was most excited about was how big it was. I was excited because I’ve never been in a school so big.

I’m so thankful for this new school. THANK YOU.

Dear Los Alamos,

I am really enjoying our new building for a few different reasons.

First, it is awesome because there is a lot more room. That means we can fit more stuff in our room. Next reason is the gym and lunch room being in different room. That allows less strain on coach and more room. Plus, the serving area got a much needed upgrade. Another reason is our old building was falling apart and plugs could not suffice for a lot of the power we need.

All in all, this building is helping us all out.

Dear Los Alamos,

I am really enjoying our new building for several reasons. First of all, our new medial center because it has computer labs, study rooms and a larger selection of books. Another reason is how much more room we have in our classrooms and dining hall. The new desks they gave us are a whole lot of roomier. Upstairs in our new school, there are 4th, 5th and 6th graders. Downstairs, there are kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades as well as art, library, P.E. and music.

Thank you so much for all your time and patience.

Dear Los Alamos,

I am loving our new school for many reasons. First, the new school is all connected. When we were in the old building, we had to walk to a portable for music. That was not that fun. Second, a surprising thing for me was the new library. It was so big and even had a fireplace, but don’t worry, we won’t get burned. It’s a laser fireplace that still produces heat.

Third, the art and music rooms are right next to each other. Music and art are my favorites. There are big windows that save energy. Fourth, what might need to get used to is the second floor. Since kindergarten, I have been on a single level, and I am not used to climbing stairs everyday.

Lastly, we now have a dining hall  The old school didn’t have a cafeteria, we ate in the gym.

Thank you Los Alamos for helping us get a great school..

Dear Wonderful Community of Los Alamos,

Thank you very much for voting for us to have anew school built, even though it meant taxes staying high. I don’t think there is a single student or teacher at Aspen who isn’t glad to be out of the old building. It really is great to be able to learn in such a wonderful building.

I have seen many nice buildings, but Aspen is by far one of the nicest. One of my favorite places in it is the media center (library). It has so much more space, allowing us to take the books in long-term storage out. The study rooms also make a great place for book clubs and group studies. I also enjoy the dining hall. The new low ceiling makes it much quieter and relaxing during lunch. The new building also has many other new features I enjoy such as a kiln, drop-down projectors, a fireplace and much more!

The best thing about the new school is that it will help me learn becauseI can focus so much better. In the old building, I couldn’t think for half of the time because I was so worried that the roof was going to fall in on me! It also has many new technology features to help us learn.

This really is a great building. It couldn’t have happened without our help!

Dear Los Alamos County,

I am very glad and excited that my classmates and I have a new school, for many reasons.

First, the thing that made me absolutely ecstatic was having a chance to be on the second floor. Now that I think about it, it makes sense that the “little’ kids are on the first floor, but I am still happy that my last year at Aspen will be spent on the second floor. The second thing is the building is awesome, especially not have to commute outside, instead we’re commuting inside. Even though our kindergarten buddies and special classes are downstairs, I am still glad. The third thing is that all the new things are great like the Media Center and the new desks.

All and all, having a new school is great, and I would like to say thank you.

Dear Los Alamos,

I am loving our new building for several reasons.

First of all, the dining hall is beautiful. I especially like the quietness of the room. Second, I like the light sails on the ceiling. They also add to the scenery down on the first floor. Third I like the glass window next to the elevator because it is cool to see the gears of it. It will be also very helpful for disabled people.

Thank you so much for building the new school and supporting the idea.

Dear Los Alamos,

I am loving our new building for several reasons.

First of all, the thing I’m most excited about is the new technology. In the portable, we could not use the Internet all at the same time because it would cut us off. A second reason is the new desks and chairs. They are so helpful for our binders because now we can hang them and not trip over them.

My last reason is how big our classrooms are. Now we are not crowded by each other. I am also loving the windows.

Thank you so much for our amazing new building!

Dear Los Alamos,

I am loving our new school for three big reasons.

The first thing that surprised me is the class next to the elevator. It surprised me because I never have seen the workings of an elevator. The part I am most excited about is the new lunchroom. I like the new lunchroom because we don’t have to eat in a gym.

The things that caught my eye were the tiger paws in front of the school. It caught my eye because I never have seen one thing like that.

Dear Los Alamos,

I’m thankful for the school for several reasons. First, I feel safer because you have to buzz in before you enter the school.

Second, I love that it’s two stories because when it was one story, the older kids would run over the younger ones. Third, I have the technology to help me with projects and class work. Fourth, I’m glad that the music and kindergarden classes are finally in the building. Last, I love the library because it’s big and has really nice Aspen trees panes.

I have a very big thank you to the community and to everyone who voted “yes” for us to have a new school building. Thank you.

Dear Members of the Community,

Recently, we have moved into our new Aspen Elementary School. In this building children will play, learn and grow. I hope you feel pride in the fact that you have made this possible. I have seen many changes, but one thing I have never seen change is the love for learning in this town. The people here done many things to inspire and shape the kids of this community.

We are so thankful that you have provided us with amazing opportunities to learn, and now an amazing place to learn. The school is wonderful, and we could not have gotten it without you.

Dear Los Alamos,

I am loving our new school for a few reasons.

First off, I like this new school because it has two stories. I think it is cool that there are two stories because we are the only elementary school that has two stories in Los Alamos. Another reason I like this school is the windows. I like the windows because can look out the windows on the second floor. Third off, I think the new school is cool because it has nice walls. I like the walls because they have nice texture.

I like the school a lot because it has nice details.

I love our new building for so many reasons!

First of all, it has so many unique features like a speaker system, big windows and sinks in every classroom. The art room has a kiln and the library has a fireplace. I am loving our new building for severals reasons.

First of all, the fireplace is really eye catching. It’s cool. Also, the faster technology. The faster the technology the better. Lastly, the music the teachers can play with a click of the computer. The music helps us focus.

Thank you for the new school!

Dear Los Alamos,

I love our new school for a few reasons. First is that it has two floors because if there was one, it would have been crowded.

Next is the fact that the library is a lot larger than before. In the portables, we could not fit as much books. It helps us because we can learn and research, and these are the reasons I like the new school.

Dear Los Alamos,

I am loving our new school for several reasons.

First of all, I love that it is tow stories. Now everyone can have lots of more room to learn. One thing that is really eye-catching is the staircase to and from the Media Center.  For six and a half years, I have been calling it the library, but now I can sound official and call it the media center.

The thing I am most excited about is the elevator that you see when you come into the building. I have never been at a school with an elevator before. Now I can see the gears move and know how one works. This great new school will help me a lot. With speakers over the room, teachers can play music, which helps me concentrate a lot.

Thank you so much for all the money and care you helped put into our new school to help our education.

Dear Los Alamos,

I am loving our new building for three reasons.

First of all, I love my classroom because it is nice and big. It is nice because everything in it is brand new. Second of all, I like that there are two stories and I like that because it is less distracting if the littler kids are noisy. Third of all, I like that there is a dining hall and a gym, so that we don’t have to eat in the gym.

Thank you so much for our new school!

Dear Los Alamos,

I would like to thank you for our new school for several reasons. Something that really caught my eye was the “Dining Hall”. The dining hall is very fancy, for a cafeteria although I thought it’d be bigger, but we all fit.

Another cool part of the dining hall is the chairs flip and then you are sitting on a bench with a back to lean on. I also like the shape of the building. I love the big doorway. It kind of reminds me of the municipal building. I do think the new school is easier to work in because this school is so neat and organized and I feel that being overwhelmed with clutter it’s hard to work in.

In conclusion, the new school is an adventure and a fun one.

Dear Los Alamos Community,

I am loving our new building for several reasons.

First of all, I love the two stories. It really helps because we’re not all squished together. Next, the elevator is very helpful. It’s helpful because if there was a student in a wheelchair, they wouldn’t have to have a challenge going up the stairs. It’s also helpful because if we needed to bring a heavy item upstairs, we could just put it in the elevator instead of trying to carry it up the stairs. Finally, this school is helping us learn because it’s good to know that we’re gong to a school that’s safe and looks nice.

Thank you for investing in me and my classmates’ education.

Dear Los Alamos,

I love our new school building. One thing that caught my eye was the elevator!  I was wondering if we could use it a lot or help the handicapped get to higher floor. I also love how much more room and stuff we have. The class rooms are bigger and less cramped and the new items in the playground are wonderful.

This new building helps me concentrate because the rooms are bigger and everything seems easier in the new building and it’s more cozy. I’m very excited to be at the school. Thank you!!!

Los Alamos Community,

I am very much liking our new school for several reasons. First of all, some eye-catching things I noticed were the patterns that are unique and colorful. The roof sails as well.

Some things that I am most excited about would have to be the new building itself, but the part that I like the best is that you allowed it to be made and that the construction workers spent much time on it.

The thing that makes me cry the most is that it was you who allowed this. If it weren’t for you, we as students and teachers would not get the opportunity to start fresh and learn more. You took the time to help out. Thank you.

These are the reasons I am liking the new school. Thank you.

First of all, I like the chairs and desks. They fit your body better than the old school desk and chairs. Secondly, the new school has a lot of the new updates. Dear Los Alamos,

I am loving our new building for three reasons.

The first reason is because I like how you can see the elevator go down. I thought that was really eye-catching. The second reason is that I like how it’s a two-story building, and we get the top floor. That is the part I’m mostly excited about because I feel comfortable. The last reason is because we are less crowded and this is much helpful.

Thank you for the new building.

Dear Los Alamos,

I am so thankful for our new building for several reasons.  First of all, I love the view from upstairs looking out from the window, because all you see is trees, mountains, and the golf course, and I think that is really beautiful.

Second of all, I love the view of the inside of the building like the light sails, the aspen tree pictures on the glass, and the elevator.  I like these because they’re something you wouldn’t expect to see in a school, and I like that and think it is unique.  Third of all, I like that all of the desks are brand new and the chairs are brand new.  They are all the same and I like that about them.

I am so happy that Los Alamos gave us the money to make this new school because it was really worth it.

Dear Los Alamos,

I am loving our new building for three reasons and one thing that is bad about our new building. First, the fireplace is the thing I like most. The fireplace is in the Media Center. There is a long stone bench near the fireplace. Second, the elevator is made out of glass. You can see the person who is in the elevator go up and down. Last, the flat sink near the dining hall. It has multiple faucets and three soap dispensers.

The bad thing about our new school is the hand blow dryers. It is so loud and you can hear it from classrooms away. The funny part is it has a label that says FEEL THE POWER.

Thank you so much for our new school.

Dear Los Alamos,

I have several things to say about the new building, good and bad.

First, I would like to explain how the building benefits me as a student. So just like overall it’s a lot safer, it also makes it a whole lot easier for me to get to my classes. Then, there are a few things that are eye-catching. I can only name one. There are these tiger paw prints at the front of the school. I look at them everyday. My brother hasn’t even noticed them.

Next, I was really excited about the new “dining hall” and I have only eaten there once, and it still amazes me. And, last, something that might take some getting used to is the way you enter and exit the building. It’s just kind of complicated how some doors you can use and some doors you can’t use.

I love the building; it’s awesome!
