Letter To The Editor: Disappearing Hummingbirds…

By JOHN MARINUZZI

With three large Hummingbird feeders, we have enjoyed watching Hummers for decades. However, this year they have all but disappeared.

We live on the Canyon side of Pajarito Acres. In years past, we usually see the Hummers start to arrive during the second week of April, increase in number to about 15 to 25 by the end of May, and remain at that number until they leave in early September.

This year the first birds arrived on April 12, increased to about 12 by mid-May, and steadily decreased since then. Today we are down to two Rufous.
