I agree with the two other published comments on the ugly starkness left behind by the so called “renovation” of our minute business strip on Central Avenue. Whoever planned this and ran it through without prior input from the public ought to be dismissed from public service in Los Alamos.
The two surviving trees from the “renovation” of 17 years ago and provided the only shade available in front of CB FOX and along that strip of Central Avenue at a cost of $10,000 per tree to save at that previos time of renovation, were hacked down without so much as a blink of an eye. Those trees were the only part of that strip that offered any aesthetic invitation to even shop and visit the area. Now it looks like a Wal-Mart parking lot! Or should I say Smith’s.
One more thing that was obviously ignored was the provisions for bicycle lanes. Not very GREEN conscientious to encourage citizens to get away from the use of fossil fuels! Congratulations Los Alamos County for another multimillion dollar blunder of tax payer monies….
