Lee Powell Wins Two National Murrow Awards

Lee Powell, a 1994 graduate of Los Alamos High School, has won two national Edward R. Murrow Awards given by the Radio Television Digital News Directors Association. They are among the highest awards in broadcasting.
 
Powell is a reporter at The Washington Post, specializing in video storytelling. He won a writing Murrow for a selection of stories, including the search for a beloved panda in China.
 
The other Murrow was for coverage of opioid addiction among Americans. A team of Washington Post reporters spent a year looking at how drugs moved through communities and affected specific groups like women.
 
In the past, Powell has won Murrow Awards for writing and feature reporting.
 
Before joining The Washington Post, Powell reported for The Associated Press in their Washington bureau and at The Dallas Morning News.
