The Española Electric Light Parade is just around the corner and if you’ve never been before I urge you to come experience one of the most special times of year in our Valley. You will see all the best Española has to offer, where everyone drops the issues of their lives and works to bring smiles to everyone’s faces. From car clubs, colleges, churches, to banks it’s the time of year where everyone builds truly special entries for all to see.
I have years of memories watching from the Española Plaza or at Northern New Mexico College seeing all the amazing lights. Last year we honored Española’s special surprise guest Marty the Moose by dedicating all the entries to him and the creativity to meet that theme was amazing. This year on the cusp of the City of Española’s 100th anniversary, the theme is dedicated to our railroad past, it’s all aboard the Christmas Express. Española is a city that loves its history and I can’t wait to see what our community comes up with!
So if you’re available this Dec. 14, I urge you to bring your friends and family and drink some hot cocoa on the plaza with us as the lights and sounds of the Christmas season fill the valley. There will be fireworks, local vendors, and of course the parade itself. The fun begins at 4 p.m., I’m sure we will see Santa, the Grinch, and elves cruising the West Side in low riders and it will truly be special. I hope you and your families have a wonderful holiday season. ¡Que viva Española!
