Popular Catholic author and speaker Sonja Corbitt will be the featured speaker at a special breakfast just for women 7:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday Oct. 6 at Immaculate Heart of Mary in the Parish Hall at 3700 Canyon Road.
Through reflections on Mary, two talks given by Corbitt will explore ways that women can deepen their daily prayer life and find spiritual nourishment in sacred scripture. Pope Francis called Mary “the mother of listening,” because she didn’t just hear – or read – the word, but understood how to interpret it in light of her own relationships, circumstances and habits.
Tickets are $15 advance sales only through the IHM Parish Office and includes a continental breakfast. Seating is limited to 120 women. Women interested in attending are encouraged to purchase tickets early; Corbitt was a featured speaker at IHM last year and event tickets sold out. Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at IHM as part of this event.
Corbitt is the author of four books, an international speaker, and has been featured on EWTN’s “Journey Home” and “Women of Grace” shows, relating her personal journey of faith from an evangelical Baptist to Catholicism. Better known for her weekly podcasts as “the Bible Study Evangelista,” she delivers an uplifting message about how God, in his continual pursuit of us, speaks to us through the positive and powerful circumstances of life, our relationships and his word.
The women’s breakfast is sponsored by IHM and coordinated with help from the IHM Women’s Group. Visit the IHM website at www.ihmcc.org to view an event flyer with more details or call the Parish Office at 505.662.6193.
