ESPANOLA – The public is invited to an information meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21 to learn about foster and adoptive parenting opportunities with New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department.
The information meeting will be held at the CYFD office at 912 N. Railroad in Espanola.
Currently, there are 44 children in Rio Arriba/Los Alamos counties in the foster care system. There is an urgent need for more foster parents in these communities. Anyone may qualify to become a foster parent if committed to caring for children, single, married or cohabitating, 18 or older, able to pass a criminal background check, willing to attend a free training and participate in the home study process.
CYFD staff will be available at the Oct. 21 information meeting to give information and answer questions about how to become a licensed foster or adoptive parent.
