League, PEEC And LAHS Prepare To Register Voters

COMMUNITY News:

To observe National Voter Registration Day Tuesday, Sept. 25, the League of Women Voters will partner with the Pajarito Environmental Education Center and send volunteer registrars to the Los Alamos Nature Center throughout the day.

Community members can visit the nature center 10 a.m. until about 4 p.m. to register to vote.

The registrars have all been trained at the County Clerk’s office and will have all the necessary information about voting. National Voter Registration Day (NVRD) is a nationwide, nonpartisan effort to register voters. Registering to vote is easy and the only information necessary is your name, address, date of birth, social security number and the party you wish to register for.

For NVRD at the nature center, Hedy Dunn, Rosemary Alme, Jody Benson and Ellen Mills will be registering voters. PEEC also has ordered registration materials in Chinese and Korean.

In addition, high school student Sonyia Williams asked for registrars to be available at the Speech and Debate Tournament Saturday, Sept. 22 at Los Alamos High School, since many students will be attending from all over New Mexico. Participating from the League and Friends of the League will be Lynn and Mark Jones, Hedy Dunn, Cheryl Thrasher, Terry Beery, Judy Buckingham and Randy Pair. Registration will be available noon to 2 p.m. at the high school.
