League Of Women Voters Social Gathering Sept. 7

LWV News:

The Los Alamos League of Women Voters invites long-term members, new members, and inquiring non-members to a League Social Gathering 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at the home of Rosmarie Frederickson at 1372 47th St. off Sandia in the Western Area.

One of the League’s missions is to educate its members and others about the government and to encourage the informed and active participation of citizens in government.

To these ends, political strategist Tarin Nix will speak briefly about how citizens can engage with the New Mexico Legislature, and Councilor Rick Reiss will talk about how Los Alamos County interacts with the Legislature, and the County’s perspective on the 2017 Legislative Session.

Members will answer questions about the League—what they don’t do (endorse candidates or parties) and what they do (study and lobby on issues). Everyone is welcome to find out what the League is all about and enjoy libations and hearty hors d’oeuvres.
