LLA News:

Enrollment is open through June 25 for the Leadership Los Alamos Class of 2017 and everyone is welcome to apply.

Between now and then, the Los Alamos Daily Post is publishing a series of Q&A profiles on recent LLA graduates who talk about their experience in the program.

Leadership Los Alamos is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3), tax exempt organization founded to identify current and emerging leaders in the Los Alamos community, enhance their leadership skills, and deepen their knowledge of the challenges and opportunities facing our area.

In the Leadership Los Alamos program, participants learn as much about themselves as they do about leadership, teamwork and the community. To learn more, visit About Leadership Los Alamos and Applying to the Program.

The Profile series continues with 2016 graduate Ryn Herrmann, marketing manager of the Los Alamos Commerce & Development Corporation.

LLA: How many years have you lived and/or worked in Los Alamos?

Herrmann: I have lived in Los Alamos for almost 20 years and consider it to be home. My husband and I came here when he was a post-doc and we stayed to raise our family. I was a full-time parent for 17 years & then re-entered the workplace.

LLA: Why did you enroll in Leadership Los Alamos?

Herrmann: I enrolled in LLA to improve my leadership skills to help me with my career. My biggest take-away from the class was more self-confidence in my public speaking skills.

LLA: What was your biggest “take-away” from the class?

Herrmann: My favorite part of LLA was the relationships that I formed with my classmates.

LLA: What are you doing with what your learned?

Herrmann: Since graduating from LLA I have become more involved with the County Lodgers’ Tax Advisory Board, the Bradbury Science Museum Association and am running for the Pajarito Mountain Ski Club Nominating Committee. I believe it is important to give back to one’s community and I choose to do this by being involved with groups that are important to me. My position as Marketing and Communications Manager for Los Alamos Commerce & Development Corporation allows me the flexibility to contribute to our community every day. LLA strengthened my commitment and sharpened my skills to help make Los Alamos the amazing community that it is. Thank you LLA!
