Leadership Los Alamos is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3), tax exempt organization founded to identify current and emerging leaders in the Los Alamos community, enhance their leadership skills, and deepen their knowledge of the challenges and opportunities facing our area.

The Leadership Los Alamos profile series concludes with 2015-16 graduate Jeremy Smith, director of Sports, Recreation and Adventure for The Family YMCA:
LLA: How many years have you lived and/or worked in Los Alamos?
SMITH: I have lived in Los Alamos for four years and have worked at The Family YMCA as the Sports and Adventure director for four and a half years. Yep I did commute from Taos for six months where I had worked for other Non-profit organizations since 2008.
LLA: Why did you enroll in Leadership Los Alamos?
Smith: I wanted to meet other people working in some of our community organizations and to learn a bit more about Los Alamos.
LLA: What was your biggest “take-away” from the class?
Smith: My biggest “Take-away” is how many people in Los Alamos are interested in giving back to the community through their work, their volunteerism, and their eagerness and dedication to helping others.
LLA: What are you doing with what your learned?
Smith: I am becoming more engaged in the community: UNM-LA, Art in Public Places Board, Habitat for Humanity,…
