LVNS News:

Georgina Williams, former Los Alamos Public School District prevention specialist and licensed therapist, has accepted the position of executive director for Los Alamos Visiting Nurse Service (LAVNS) effective June 2. Joining Williams on the leadership team is Debbie Storms, RN, as director of clinical services.

LAVNS is the only non-profit home health care and hospice organization in Los Alamos and has been providing patient care in Northern New Mexico for more than 41 years.

Former executive director and founder Sarah Rochester stepped down from the executive director position in order to devote her energies to The Sanctuary at Canyon’s Edge, the new LAVNS hospice facilitycurrently being designed for the LAVNS site on Canyon Road. This proposed inpatient hospice facility has been part of the LAVNS vision for many years.

The Sanctuary will combine a tranquil hospice home and new administrative offices on LAVNS property overlooking Pueblo Canyon, and is now in the fund-raising and design-development stage.

Rochester will continue to work with LAVNS as a consultant for The Sanctuary.

“Finding a new executive director to replace Sarah, our director for 41, was not easy,” LAVNS Board President Lynn Finnegan said. “We are very fortunate to have well-qualified health professionals and an outstanding administrative team at LAVNS, several of whom have been with the agency for many years.

“After conducting a nationwide search and receiving numerous qualified applicants, we came to realize that what we were really looking for was someone who was well-respected in the Los Alamos community and who displayed strong leadership and management skills.

‘We are very pleased to have found Georgina Williams, who has already proven to be a perfect fit for us.”

Williams is excited about leading LAVNS and ensuring its continued reputation for providing quality and caring services, she said.

“I look forward to carrying out the mission of Los Alamos Visiting Nurse Service by supporting the growth of the organization as The Sanctuary at Canyon’s Edge becomes a reality,” Williams said.
