Learn to build a flourishing garden by taking care of plants as well as the soil. at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, June 12, at the Los Alamos Nature Center, 2600 Canyon Road.
 
Laural Hardin will discuss organic-based fertilizing methods and give tips on ways to naturally enrich soils. Her talk will reveal how home gardeners can avoid harming beneficial soil microbes with synthetic fertilizers. This class is organized by the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC). 
 
Laural Hardin is a certified arborist and integrated pest management specialist. She specializes in diagnosing and solving tree and garden problems. With an interest in helping people understand the natural balance in the landscape, Laural explains how to avoid most issues by learning to see the root cause. She loves to share her knowledge with hands-on workshops and fact-filled talks, so come prepared to learn!
