LASG Gymnasts Bring Home Medals From USAG New Mexico State Championships

Los Alamos School of Gymnastics Silver and Gold (intermediate level) teams traveled to Albuquerque last weekend to compete in the New Mexico Xcel State Championships.

Yuiko Yamaguchi and Emily Lueninghoener competed in the younger group of the Gold Division.   Yamaguchi finished in fifth place with a 36.525 and Lueninghoener was 10th with a 34.90. Yamaguchi took the silver medal on floor with a 9.40, she also placed fourth on beam (9.025), and fifth on vault (9.10). Lueninghoener placed fourth on vault (9.15).

Dellany Balkey competed in the middle age division of Gold, finishing in third place taking the bronze medal with 35.80. She won a silver medal on the beam (8.625), a bronze medal on the floor exercise (9.20) and took fourth on vault (8.85).

Eliana Rodriquez competed in the older division of Gold, finishing seventh with 35.275. She took the silver medal on beam with an 8.90.

All four gymnasts qualified to represent New Mexico in May at the Gold Region 3 Championships in Denver.

In the Silver Division competition, Katelyn Martinez was LASG’s highest scorer.

Martinez finished fifth in the older division with 36.375. She won a silver medal on beam (9.15), a bronze medal on floor exercise (9.05), and took fourth on bars (9.375). 

In a younger division Chelsea Nguyen finished fourth with 36.10. Nguyen won the gold medal on floor (9.25), and bronze medals on on bars (9.40) and vault (9.20). 

In this same division, Teagan Brown was eighth with 35.35. Brown placed fourth on floor (9.00) and beam (8.55). Emma Justus was ninth in this division with 35.00. Justus won the gold medal on vault with 9.30.
