LARSO News:
Last week, at the New Mexico 44th Conference on Aging, local volunteer John Baillie was awarded the K. Rose Wood Outstanding Older Adult Award.
The award is presented to an individual age 60 or older in recognition of a significant and lasting contribution benefiting New Mexico and/or its local communities.
Baillie is a steadfast volunteer and do good human being that makes every day brighter. He was recognized as a joint effort from the Older Adult Network and a local Advisory Council. His volunteerism includes his work on the LARSO Board of Directors, heading an Advisory Council, for the State of New Mexico and serving as the state Vice President. He also volunteered at four local COVID vaccine booster clinics and is a member and President of the Los Alamos Lads of Enchantment.
The local nominators included: Ken Hendricks from Home Instead, Carolyn Moore from Nurses with Heart, Los Alamos County’s Deni Fell and former LARSO Directors Pauline Powell Schneider, Linda Boncella and current Director Bernadette Lauritzen.
“He has volunteered at both LARSO’s senior centers for many years to fill a variety of needs, and every time he can be counted on to show up and shine,” Powell Schneider said. “John truly exemplifies an outstanding professional who has applied his life skills for the benefit of the community of seniors and the staff who serve them throughout New Mexico.”
Baillie will be presented with the award later this month in Los Alamos.
