Dear Friends,
About 12 years ago, my husband said, “What if I told you, I had a plan where we could retire when we were 55?” I said, “I don’t know what your plan is, but I like it.”
Next week, I turn 55 and today, I am submitting my letter of resignation. While my notice is about 6 weeks, I will do my best not to leave you without proper leadership.
I was asked once how long I would stay, and I always thought I would stay until I turned 60. Then the pandemic turned the world upside down and I recalled that my husband retired at 55, with our goal in mind. I hear that President Biden will call and end to Emergency Declaration, on May 11th. The state will declare one on March 31st. So, now I feel even more comfortable in my decision.
I wish you well, have been honored to serve and while I may not have accomplished everything I wanted to do, I have left her better than I found her.
“Though, in reviewing the incidents of my administration I am unconscious of intentional error.
I am nevertheless too sensible of my defects not to think it probable that I may have committed many errors.” —George Washington
