LAPS Welcome Letter For Kindergarten Safety Town

By Dr. Kurt A. Steinhaus
LAPS Superintendent

Welcome to the Los Alamos Public Schools!

With a warm handshake and a smile, I extend greetings from the wonderful people who are LAPS. We are happy that your child will participate in this summer’s Kindergarten Safety Town. All of the planned activities are a combined effort with Los Alamos County employees and the Los Alamos Police Department. Keeping your child safe at school is our top priority.

At LAPS, we offer a developmentally appropriate curriculum for each of our kindergarten students that honors individual needs, student and staff well-being, and is adjusted to a wide range of abilities. We have outstanding schools led by principals and teachers who are skilled in helping every student reach their potential. Our dedicated and hardworking staff are here to serve students, parents, and the greater Los Alamos community.

I believe in the extraordinary potential of all of our more than 3,500 students. We take pride in our diversity and excellent quality of instruction. Since activities outside of school are just as important as in-school study, I believe in a strong collaborative relationship with our parents, families, and the community. I am committed to bringing out the best in each and every child, young adult, and staff member. As we often say, strong schools are the foundation of our strong community.
