LAPS Students Return To School Monday May 16

LAPS News:

Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) students will return to class Monday, May 16 for regular school hours.

All before and after school sports and activities will resume as normally scheduled.

Los Alamos Middle School and Los Alamos High School students will be on the 7-period schedule on Monday.

LAPS has been in close contact with the Cerro Pelado Fire response teams from Los Alamos County and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).

“The situation with the fire has improved since Sunday,” Assistant Superintendent Jennifer Guy said. “After reviewing the current data on the fire with the experts, we believe that we can safely return students to school on Monday. I value the great communication that we have had from Los Alamos County and LANL throughout this fire. They have helped us put student, staff, and community safety first.”

Los Alamos County remains in the SET posture based on the Ready, Set, Go! protocol. LAPS will continue to work closely with County Emergency Manager Beverley Simpson to stay updated on the fire and will adjust plans if the situation warrants a change.
