Los Alamos Public Schools is excited to offer the opportunity for all LAPS students in Kindergarten through 6th grade (K-6) to participate in the K-6+ program being offered this June.
K-6+ is a free extended learning opportunity for all students to attend school in person for 15 extra days June 1-21. Teachers will reinforce core skills, provide hands on learning opportunities and enrichment, or focus on teaching skills that may not have been mastered during the current school year.
“We are happy to be able to offer extended learning time for our students. We look forward to providing students with a fun, engaging way to continue learning and interacting with their teachers and peers,” Assistant Superintendent Jennifer Guy said.
Enrichment opportunities and special education services will be available. Students enrolled in the Los Alamos Online Learning Academy (LAOLA) will continue to learn remotely June 1-21. All other students will attend in person.
Transportation will be provided for those who qualify and meals will be provided free to all students.
Students in the K-6+ program also will have the opportunity to participate in optional afternoon activities such as gardening clubs, theater, music, art, PE, robotics, kindergarten safety town, etc.
“The different opportunities will make the afternoons rich and meaningful and fun,” Guy said.
