As the new school year begins, the Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation (LAPSF) has several opportunities for teachers, families, and the community to get involved.
Hilltopper Run – Aug. 16
Calling all community members, runners and children with lots of energy – join LAPSF for the Hilltopper Run on Aug. 16, hosted by TCR Productions. Proceeds benefit LAPS Foundation teacher grants. Register here.
Teachers:
Grant Cycles Are Opening for the 2026-2027 school year. Applications for the Great Ideas, Professional Development and Professional Book Group grants are accepted each year in the fall and the spring. Certified Los Alamos Public Schools teachers may apply. Applications will be accepted from Sept. 1 through Nov. 30, 2026 for the fall grant cycle and from Feb. 1 through April 30, 2027 for the spring grant cycle.
Mini grant applications (up to $100) opened on Aug. 1, 2026. Certified Los Alamos Public Schools teachers may apply. Every teacher may apply for one mini grant per school year as long as funds remain available. Learn more & apply!
Wellness grant applications opened on Aug. 1, 2026. In support of the Los Alamos Public Schools’ focus on student and staff wellness, the LAPS Foundation offers wellness grants for up to $500 each. Any Los Alamos Public Schools employee may apply. Wellness grants should fit into one of the following categories: physical fitness, mindfulness/stress management, morale, creativity/fun or other (please specify). Learn more & apply!
NEW Grants launching this school year:
Back to School grants (up to $250) for teachers entering a new grade level, subject area, or school site that need specialized learning materials, organization supplies, and support setting up welcoming environments for your new students.
New Teacher grants (up to $500) to help you set up your classroom with specialized learning materials, organization supplies, and to create a warm, welcoming and engaging learning environment for your students.
