LAPS News:

While National Attendance Awareness Month may be celebrated during the month of September, the Los Alamos County Council and the Los Alamos Public Schools would like families to remember the importance all year long.

The Los Alamos County Council recently issued a proclamation to draw attention to the issue.

Often unfinished homework and too little sleep are reasons students might say they don’t feel well on school mornings. When students see families involved in school activities or attending events, it lends importance to education.

“Let’s work together,” Dr. Kurt Steinhaus said. “Improving school attendance is not complicated, it takes commitment, communications, collaboration, and tailored approaches for each student.”
