Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) has announced the winners of the Elementary School and Los Alamos Middle School Spelling Bees.

Results:

Barranca Mesa Elementary

1st place: Liam Colgan, 5th grade
2nd place: Samuel Cawkwell, 5th grade
3rd place: Corbin Wakeford, 4th grade

Chamisa Elementary 

1st place:  Dawson Belobrajdic, 5th grade
2nd place: E.J. Atkinson, 6th grade
3rd place: Chris Beavers, 6th grade

Runner-up: Dylan Rodriguez, 6th grade

Mountain Elementary

1st place: Natalie Johnson, 4th grade
2nd place: Hannah Li, 6th grade
3rd place: Leia Lin, 6th grade

Piñon Elementary

1st place: Isaac Light, 6th grade
2nd place: Audrey Deines, 6th grade
3rd place: Noah Yeamans, 5th grade

Los Alamos Middle School

1st place: Julia Zou, 8th grade
2nd place: Elise Blackhart, 8th grade
3rd place: Gigi Fortin, 8th grade

Runner-up: Emmalyn Lee, 7th grade

It took 16 rounds to determine the winner of the middle school Spelling Bee. Thank you to all site coordinators, pronouncers and judges who helped make each Spelling Bee a success.

The top three from each school will participate in the District Spelling Bee currently scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2024.
