LAPS 2016 Summer Construction Projects

All teachers and staff wish students an enjoyable and restful summer vacation. While they are enjoying their well-earned vacation, LAPS is planning a full slate of construction projects to make sure the schools and facilities are ready for fall.
 
Projects planned:
  • LAHS E-Wing HVAC Project- Install 5 rooftop units on lower E-wing that have had A/C need and heat issues in winter for over six years. (Using Bond funds);
  • LAHS Science Wing Roof Project- Insurance job related project. Installation of new 80 mil fully adhered TPO system from prior insurance roof coating failure;
  • Paving Project for LAHS Smith lot, Teacher’s lot behind Aux Gym. (Bond Funds). Widening of entrance at Canyon into lot for Freshman Academy;
  • Band/Music Wing Remodel and Smith stage tower project- The Band and Choir rooms at LAHS will be getting a complete remodel over the summer. Additionally, Smith Auditorium Tower will be getting a new roof, structural repairs and stucco finish. (Bond funds and NM Legislature Capital Outlay funds);
  • Freshman Academy- Construction at E-Wing: Create a Freshman Academy administrative office are, teach work room and staff restroom. Asbestos tile removal – 6 rooms then new carpet and tile install after the abatement. (Hazmat/ Referendum funds);
  • Mountain School Rm. 207 Asbestos floor tile removal, new carpet install. (Hazmat /Referendum funds);
  • Pinon School- New Fire Panel with fully addressable devices install. (Referendum funds);
  • Pinon Track resurfacing. (Pinon PTO/Construction referendum);
  • LAMS Cafeteria/ Kitchen Remodel- Complete remodel of the Los Alamos Middle School kitchen to address code violations and replace infrastructure that is 55+ years old. In addition the cafeteria space where students eat will be remodeled to create a more pleasant environment and energy saving measures. (Bond Funds);
  • LAMS Locker Room HVAC/ Exhaust Install- replacing old system with new system to complete the Los Alamos Middle School Locker Room remodel. (NM Legislature Capital Outlay funds);
  • Numerous paint projects for sites requesting (interior). (Referendum funds); and
  • Chamisa- New irrigation system with weather sensors for increased efficiency. (Referendum funds).
