LAPD Releases 2020 Second Quarter Crime Statistics

Chief Dino Sgambellone

LAPD News:

Chief Dino Sgambellone has released crime statistics through the second quarter of 2020, which were compiled by the Records Section of the Los Alamos Police Department.

Offenses reported as crime statistics are determined by the FBI Uniform Crime Report Program and are classified as crimes against persons (violent crime) and crimes against property.

The offenses of murder (homicide), manslaughter, rape, robbery and aggravated assault make up the violent crime category. Simple assault is not included in UCR. The offenses of arson, burglary, larceny and auto theft make up the property crime category. Both of these categories are referred to as Part I Offenses.

During the first two quarters of 2020, officers responded to a total of 48 overall Part 1 Offense complaints, which represents a 6 percent decrease as compared to 51 offenses in 2019.

A total of six violent crime reports were taken through the first two quarters of 2020, which represents a 50 percent decrease as compared to 12 in 2019.

Property crime increased to 42 through the first two quarters of 2020, which represents an 8 percent increase as compared to 39 in 2019.
