Police arrested a fugitive from justice from Kalamazoo, Mich. Thursday morning in Los Alamos. Ericks Alfons Hausmanis is wanted in Michigan on a felony charge of failure to pay child support and desertion/abandonment/nonsupport.

A statement of probable cause filed in Los Alamos Court by Los Alamos Police Cpl. Jaime Gonzales states that he was called to the Smith’s Gas Station when Cmdr. Preston Ballew requested a second unit on the scene. Ballew reportedly knew Hausmanis from prior contact and was aware that he had a warrant from Michigan.

Hausmanis was transported to the Los Alamos Detention Center where he was charged with being a fugitive from justice. He had his first appearance Friday before Los Alamos Magistrate Judge Pat Casados and waived extradition.
