LAPD Issues Caution To Motorists At Intersections

LAPD News:

The Los Alamos Police Department has responded to two traffic crashes in the last two days at the intersection of Trinity and Oppenheimer.

These crashes occurred at 8:05 a.m. Wednesday and 7:47 a.m. Thursday.

The sun played a contributing factor into both of these crashes, which resulted in two people being transported to the hospital with injuries.

“We urge all of our citizens and commuters to use extreme caution when approaching this intersection, 7:30-8:30 a.m. due to the position of the sun in relation to the traffic control devices at this intersection,” Cmdr. Preston Ballew said. “There may be other intersections that are effected as well.”

Daylight savings is Nov. 6 so the times of concern will change to 6:30-7:30 a.m. daily.

LAPD is advising the Los Alamos County Traffic Engineering Division of this situation.
